Redmi Note 5 Pro vs. ZenFone Max Pro – Comparison

According to Asus, they specifically looked at the best selling phones in certain markets and created a product that would beat those competitors in every different category. For during the India unveil of the ZenFone Max Pro M1, Asus mentioned and clearly showed how they beat the Redmi Note 5 Pro and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. The goal is clearly to take over the #1 spot and Asus didn’t leave anything to chance and you will see.

Let’s take a look at some of the slides and information that Asus displayed during the unveil event in India.

Battery Comparison

The ZenFone Max Pro comes with fast charge and a 5000mAh battery in comparison to the Redmi Note 5 Pro that has a 4000mAh battery. Charging times are interesting because the ZenFone can charge in 2.7hrs whereas the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and its smaller battery takes 3.22hrs according to Asus. The claim is that the ZenFone Max Pro is 30 minutes faster than the Redmi Note 5 Pro.

Video playback was also mentioned at the Asus unveil event. The ZenFone Max Pro with a Snapdragon SDM636 and 5000mAh battery gets 18.2 hours of playback using the hotstar streaming app and YouTube playback will last for 19.5 hours. By comparison, the Redmi Note 5 gets 15.8 hours for hotstar and 16.7 hours with YouTube streaming.

Performance

Benchmark performance shows that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro with its SDM636 processor is slightly less robust in terms of Antutu overall scores at 112702 whereas the ZenFone Max Pro fetches a result of 116618. The Redmi Note 5 and its SDM625 fetches a benchmark score of 75880. So boiling it down, the ZenFone Max Pro get 1.03x the performance benchmark result of the Redmi Note 5 Pro and 1.54x the results of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

Sim Card / MicroSD

Asus has a better solution to the microSD/SIM card slot. The ZenFone Max Pro has a “triple slot” which means you don’t have to compromise. You can put 2 SIM cards plus a MicroSD card all at the same time. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has only two slots so you can either have 2 SIM cards or 1 SIM card if you want to have a MicroSD. Size of microSD is also better on the ZenFone Max Pro M1 which has a 2TB max whereas the Redmi Note 5 Pro has a 128GB max.
