Why we’re excited about the ZenFone 9 launch!

ASUS is coming hard with a new ZenFone model this year. The ZenFone 8 was popular among reviewers with its robust feature set and quality build quality. We’ve been raving about ZenFone models for years, so welcome aboard! Now we need to talk about the ZenFone 9 and potentially ZenFone 9 Flip.

We can appreciate the business decisions that ASUS must make when it comes to what markets get what products. North America, Canada, US for example were left out of the last generation of ZenFone. A few other countries were not included as well.

We are encouraged this year for one reason. We see a ZenFone 9 launch event in New York city! Berlin and Taipei of course as well. Seeing New York listed for a launch event must mean something for the North American markets. In fact, maybe this says something about all the markets that were not included with the ZenFone 8 release.

Our passion remains with the ZenFone product line from ASUS. It’s why we get doubly disappointed when a big chunk of our audience doesn’t get the chance to pre order and buy the new ZenFone release in their home country.

As for a possible ZenFone 9 Flip? Nothing at this point. On a limited release basis most likely if at all. Let us know in the comment section what you’re most excited about with the ZenFone 9 release.

ZenFone 8 shows up at FCC – US / Canada release is official (and coming soon)

ASUS means business this time for the North American market. You could say they’ve turned it up a notch! The ZenFone 8 (ZS590KS) has shown up at the FCC and this is good news for US and Canada consumers.

In all the ZenFone releases we’ve followed (that’s a lot) this is the earliest ZenFone that we’ve seen pass through the FCC. This is meaningful because it gives answers to release date time lines.

We’ve never seen an ASUS product pass through the FCC and hit the store shelves earlier than four weeks. Realistically speaking it means two months away, maybe a bit longer than that at the earliest. If anything this FCC filing is in line with ASUS telling the media that a summer launch for the US is likely.

Another reason why we are so impressed with this FCC filing is because it may indicate ASUS taking the North American market a bit more seriously. Year after year the US and Canada waited well into the fall to get their opportunity to buy a ZenFone. ASUS did speed things up with the ZenFone 6 but at that time we didn’t know if this would be common moving forward given that the ZenFone 7 didn’t come to the US or Canada. Generally speaking, we never have expected to see a ZenFone in the US or Canada in August to buy. This could be the year though!

It’s worth noting that it’s only the ZenFone 8 that hit the FCC and not the ZenFone 8 Flip. This was to be expected based on the intitial information that ASUS released to the press about the US release.

With what we know, expect prices and pre orders to roll out in late June or early July. You might not get the ZenFone 8 in your hand until August but we are confident that there will be a lengthy pre order phase in mid July. Pricing should be known sooner so please come back and visit for updates. In all other markets, reviewers are stating that the ZenFone 8 is cheaper than the competition from the big hitters like Google and Samsung. Expect the same aggressive pricing in the US and Canada. If ASUS gets super aggressive with pricing they could do very well in the North American market.

Breaking: ASUS has confirmed that the ZenFone 8 is coming to the US. Pricing not determined yet. We assume that a US launch means Canada as well, but Canada hasn’t officially been mentioned.

We are attempting to find out if both ZenFone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip are coming to the US market or if only one model is coming.

Price is a key factor and we will only post confirmed details as they become available.

Expected release date in US and Canada? A real wild card. Years past it was fall. This year let’s hope for summer. FCC filings will give more realistic and accurate time lines.

ZenFone 8 coming to India. Good news for other global markets?

With the limited release of the ZenFone 7, there is some good news for the upcoming ZenFone 8 launch. It’s coming to India!

One of the most well-versed markets when it comes to technology is India. ASUS has a strong presence in that market and it was quite a disappointment for many when the ZenFone 7 didn’t make it there. ASUS will be bringing the ZenFone 8 to India, but the actual launch will be coming later than the official release. The covid issue in India has resulted in ASUS delaying any sort of a launch which is a good call.

With there being two of more ZenFone 8 models, it’s unclear if India will get partial availability or the entire line-up will be available. From early leaks it looks like the “ZenFone 8” will be without a flip camera which should bring down the price. This would make it an ideal candidate for many competitive markets like India.

We see ASUS list New York in their launch page with the countdown timer. If ASUS is putting that time zone into the launch event marketing we sure hope there is something to that. Would they include New York yet not release the phone(s) to the US market? That would be rather cruel.

Other markets aside from just India, US and Canada missed out on the ZenFone 7 entirely. ASUS seems poised based on a number of indicators to have a more inclusive roll-out this time around. The surprise for us is the non-flip version of the ZenFone 8 which does mean extra models that might be more suited to more markets. Price is a big factor for many markets and if ASUS can hit certain price targets then they may have an option this time around.

Only a couple days to go. Official launch is May 12, 2021. There have been some rumors on pricing but nothing official. It’s entirely possible the ZenFone 8 Flip, which is a new model of ZenFone 7 and ZenFone 7 Pro with the flip camera, is going to have a starting price like last year. The apparent “mini” ZenFone 8 without a flip camera could come in at a lower price but the specs seems quite substantial so there is no guarantee of a lower priced ZenFone model this year.
