Zenfone 4 Pro (ZS551KL) – Everything you need to know

Pre-Release Information, Rumors, Opinions

The unveiling of the Zenfone 4 Pro (ZS551KL) is set for the Taiwan event on August 17th, 2017. There has been a lot of speculation and various reports regarding the Zenfone 4 Pro and here is a run down of current details.

  • 5.5-inch
    • One certainty is the screen size. The ZS551KL is a 5.5-inch smartphone.
  • Resolution
    • Asus is going with a 1920 x 1080 resolution for the Zenfone 4 Pro. Battery and price considerations are paramount.
  • Model: Z01GD
    • A Zenfone 4 Pro was spotted in the wild and the model number was confirmed via photo. See story here.
  • Processor: Snapdragon 835 @ 2.45GHz
    • This processor is the most current, high powered Snapdragon processor available.
  • Price: Top End
    • As the Pro model, this will be the most expensive Zenfone 4 model. It’s possible that the Zenfone 4s will come at a later date with a higher price point.
    • We expect the Zenfone 4 Pro to be lumped in with other flagships, but cheaper than the following: iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung S8, Samsung S8+, Google Pixel XL, LG V20, and LG G6.
    • The Zenfone 4 Pro (ZS551KL) will be packing top end hardware just like the other flagship phones, and this will put it in a similar price range. It’s not unreasonable to expect. If you price compare, Asus is expected to have the Pro version priced far below offerings from manufacturers like Apple, Samsung and Google.
  • Other Expected Specs/Configurations
    • We are expecting a North American variant for the US and Canada to have 6GB RAM along with 64GB storage (unofficial). Other regions will have similar or the same specs in terms of RAM and storage.
  • Our speculation and opinion:
    • with the Zenfone AR (ZS571KL) having a 2560 x 1440 resolution, we’re expecting the Zenfone 4 Pro to have that same display resolution along with Super AMOLED technology.
    • there should be something special regarding camera specs based on how Asus is building up the Zenfone 4 launch event.
