How to pre order and buy a ZenFone 6 (2019) ZS630KL

Update August 29: The ZenFone 6 has proven itself and it a GREAT option to buy. We look at a recent Reddit thread where long-time owners of the ZenFone 6 give a rating out of 10. A majority put it at 9 or 8 after having used it and owned it. Reddit is a tough crowd, but an honest crowd. The ZenFone 6 is a winner and worthy of your money. Now the harder part is where can you buy one. If you want one, don’t wait for sale prices or the cheaper model because the stock is low and supplies will be gone entirely. Most online retailers show no stock, so we are hopefully saving you some hassle with links and information.

Indonesia has ZenFone 6 availability. Only the 6GB/128GB model and is available to buy (Rp 6,999,000) at eraspace.com and Tokopedia .

The $899 USD ROG Phone 2 is available (shopping options for Canada and International) and we have full details here.

If you are outside of the current ZenFone 6 stocked countries, you can look at international options here. If you are outside of the US and don’t want to deal with 3rd party sellers, check that linked article out. Ordering from the one US retailer (who ship internationally) may be a decent option for those of you from Australia and other countries.

ASUS has officially disclosed the ZenFone 6 production issues, but they have been able to resolve those issues. It seems a bit uncanny to see the ZenFone 6 as “discontinued” across most retailers globally. This fact opens up the possibility that ASUS is putting their efforts into ensuring smooth ZenFone 7 production as rumors indicate it will also use the flip camera module albeit with more lenses. ASUS went for perfection on the flip camera and the materials used to manufacture it. They paid a price in terms of slow production but the solid performance of this innovation show reliability and trust has won over a lot of consumers. This bodes well for the ZenFone 7.

Since launch, we have been painfully tracking various pre-order opportunities across many markets and many retailers. If you hear of stock at this point in mid-2020, please let us know via email. We post information as we get it. If you want availability updates for the ZenFone 7 emailed to you, please sign-up for our newsletter here. Remember to check your junk/trash folder though as sometimes newsletter emails can get missed and filtered as spam.

ASUS Online Stores Stock update October 10: Most ASUS stores show ZenFone 6 product listings as “discontinued”. Scarce supply unfortunately but it’s a result of demand outpacing the supply.

Misc Availability:

  • Most countries that do not have pre-order information or availability yet are delayed due to stock shortages. The situation is improving as of mid-August.
  • India has the following configurations in Midnight Black: 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB.
  • Hong Kong has stock of all models in Midnight Black. Twilight Silver is delayed until mid-August. 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB (source: official ASUS Hong Kong online store)
  • Sweden has in-stock ZenFone 6 units at various retailers. Inet.se shows 126GB model in stock.
  • Italy being the initial launch country has various retailers selling the ZenFone 6.
  • Europe countries still have the best availability as of late August but still do not have the 8GB/256GB models available.

If you live in Europe and have an ASUS online store, it’s worth checking their stock on a regular basis. The in-stock status has been fluctuating over the past couple of weeks. Not a lot of units but they do show up and sell out quickly.

Where can I buy the Twilight Silver color version of the ZenFone 6?

Twilight Silver is now starting to show up at various retailers. If you want this color, be fast during pre-order opportunities. Only a limited number will be made available to pre-order. In the US for example, the Twilight Silver sold out during the pre-order phase quite quickly. The production of Twilight Silver takes more time than the Midnight Black. Expect stock to show up soon, expect limited stock and fast sell-outs. We recommend you act quickly and order right away when the chance comes.

How does this pricing compare to the competition like say, the OnePlus 7 Pro?

  • 6GB/128GB: $669 USD – 699/709€
  • 8GB/256 GB: $699 USD – 749/759€
  • 12GB/256GB: $749 USD – 819/829€

How does this pricing compare to the Google Pixel 3a XL?

  • 64GB – $479 USD

What versions of the ZenFone 6 (ZS630KL) will be available in the US and Canada?

  • The 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/256GB models will be available in North American markets (US and Canada)

What is this newly announced ZenFone 6 Edition 30? Where can I buy it and when will it be available?

The ZenFone 6 Edition 30 is a variant of the ZenFone 6 that ASUS announced as part of their 30-year anniversary. This model has 12GB of RAM, 256GB storage, a 30-month warranty, and a differently designed rear. Only 3,000 units will be produced. No pricing or availability has been announced so far.

What network bands will the North America variant of the ZenFone 6 have?

  • Just like previous generations of ZenFone models, expect the typical networks to be compatible. As ASUS states about network compatibility in the US, “This device is not compatible with CDMA Networks such as: Verizon, Sprint, and US Cellular.” As for Canada, here is what ASUS says: “Compatible with GSM Networks including Rogers, Bell, Telus, Wind, Fido, Virgin, Koodo and cellular network providers utilizing GSM network.” Here are a couple charts to sort out the US and Canada compatibility:

At the unveiling event, when it came to the price announcement? Crickets. Yep, it’s true. The reality is ASUS no longer feels the need to join that race to the bottom. They did say the strategy moving forward was towards “power users” and with that quest comes a fully packed ZenFone 6. With that said ASUS has managed to release a flagship worthy competitor at a cheaper price than the competition.

Hi, any idea when Asus Zenfone 6 will be available in Singapore? 🙁
    Thanks.

    • DojoFR June 26, 2019 at 5:28 am #

This launch is ttly fu**ed up…. Small stock, no info on availability, only the 6/64 at the launch…
“Did Asus learned from the past?”
      no !
We are Jun 26th, France, I want to buy the 8/256 what I have to do ?
      – Wait 2 more weeks (2 monthes after launch are not so far)
      – impossible to pay in x time, Asus italy propose it for exemple, but not fr one, I called the hotline, they don’t know why (and they don’t know when the 12/512 anniversary will be available…)
      – no pre order goodies, even a voucher for the Asus shop

I’m close to just buy the 6/64 on rakuten… Or just forget about it and go on another one very frustrating

Can you offer any insight for previous ZenFone models like the 5z? Where was it usually available? Any store names, links, etc will help. We can dig around but extra info from previous ZenFone releases for that area will help. Thanks!

Ok, double post. ^^ At Zentalk an ASUS guy stated the following:

“The availability is a problem which we’re working very hard on solving. We regrettably made some wrong choices which made an impact in the efficiency of how many units we can produce. This is what we’re trying to correct.”

      • Admin August 3, 2019 at 3:35 am #

Glad they spoke on the subject. Kind of late letting folks know but I guess it’s progress.

  16. Eric August 5, 2019 at 4:21 pm #

Have a look at the Q&A section of the B&H links. Someone asks about the 8GB model, and an account that looks like an official Asus rep, replies that it will arrive in the US later this year.

    • Admin August 6, 2019 at 1:44 am #

      Thanks for posting that information!

      • Eric August 6, 2019 at 4:01 pm #

Looks like ASUS US and Amazon both have it listed now.

  17. Luke August 13, 2019 at 2:05 pm #

Anyone have news about an official release in Canada? I know us Canadians can purchase from the US from a couple of retailers but it would be nice to know when this phone is actually going to make it up here (and where I’ll be able to find it. I’d rather purchase one in CAD and have a Canadian warranty. I’m finding it very difficult not to just order one from the US and have it shipped.

    • Admin August 13, 2019 at 3:30 pm #

There is conflicting information regarding the US warranty in Canada. I’ve dealt with ASUS a lot over the years. Maybe things changed but previously the US variant is considered North America and that warranty applied to Canada and US. I should call to clarify because who knows in 2019 what the deal is. I totally understand the hesitation though. We have pretty reliable sources regarding Canada. There hasn’t been any indication that it’s coming this week. I would say by the end of this week we should have a better idea. The good news is that when it comes, it should be ready to buy and not a pre order situation. At least for the Midnight Black.

      • Luke August 13, 2019 at 3:57 pm #

So I ended up getting one shipped to me through B&H. They have the one I wanted in stock and ready to ship so I pulled the trigger. 4-6 buisness days is what they stated for delivery. My LG G6 has started to reboot randomly on me so I’m extra inclined to get a hold of the Zenfone. Before I purchased, I talked to an ASUS support rep. I asked about Canada pricing and availability. They stated that they have had no news as of yet as to when the phone is supposed to make it’s way to Canadian markets OR what the price will be. They really couldn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. I’m assuming that the phone will be right around the $650-$700 mark here in Canada when it is finally released given that it is $500 USD. But that’s just my guess. Will post on here if I hear anything else.

        • Admin August 13, 2019 at 4:11 pm #

Thanks for the update! Your info will help a lot of people out. Did the ASUS rep clarify the US phones warranty status for Canadians? If you have a follow-up when you get the phone, that would be great to hear also. Lots of Canadians have been inquiring and hearing your story will definitely help them make a decision. Thanks again.

          • Luke August 13, 2019 at 4:23 pm #

The rep didn’t know any details on warranty regarding US phones being shipped to Canada. They told me to subscribe to their newsletter and watch for additional information. However, since I will be getting my phone within the next week, I will see what it says in regard to warranty when I open the box. I will come back here after I receive it and let everyone know what it says.

  21. Patrick August 21, 2019 at 8:55 am #

Alza representative emailed me to say they are having further issues and their dates are now back to at least 1st September but most likely beyond that.

    • Luke August 21, 2019 at 5:20 pm #

      Good to know!

  22. Dave August 21, 2019 at 9:44 am #

I preordered mine at midnight on August 5 at B&H and still no phone. To be clear, it was the silver variant of the 6gb ram, 64gb memory phone. If I had understood that ASUS would have limited quantities on the silver, I certainly would have purchased the black model. It’s all very frustrating to have this build up just for a phone.

    • Luke August 21, 2019 at 5:11 pm #

I purchased the black model and I should have it in my hands tomorrow by the end of the day (according to UPS). The silver models are tricky because there is definitely a bigger shortage on them opposed to the black models. Last time I spoke with B&H, they had a ship date for the silver models late this month so don’t give up hope just yet. If they were accurate, your phone should be shipping within the next 7 business days. However, that being said, the silver models seem to keep getting pushed back (shipping date & availability wise). Pre-orders are still not accepted at B&H for the silver variants which means that they still don’t know when they will be available or when they will be getting more in stock. Post back here if your phone ships within the next 7 days!

    • Dave September 6, 2019 at 9:54 pm #

I’m bailing! I just canceled my order with B&H. I nor anyone else should have to pay for the lack of preparation and over promising that ASUS has made. And the fact that I have been charged the $500 since August 5th. Besides, I found that ZTE’s Axon 10 pro is another great buy with a more pleasing to view (less blue light) AMOLED screen. And it comes with 256GB memory with 8GB of RAM. Beautiful quick phone with more memory, better screen, IP68 rating and only $50 more. Hell, it even has wireless charging if you’re into that. I have a charger already, so it’s great for overnight charging. The only worse thing that I could find is that you have to use a USB-C dongle for headphones. Oh well, can’t win ’em all.

  23. Luke August 21, 2019 at 2:07 pm #

Got a notification email from B&H Photo regarding the Twilight Silver model. They still have no ETA on and version of the Twilight Silver units and relayed to me that they would keep me updated on status.

    • Samuel August 21, 2019 at 4:42 pm #

Same, I’m waiting on the $500 twilight silver model. I want it so baaaaddd. Hopefully I’ll see the e-mail on time and be able to preorder it.

      • Luke August 21, 2019 at 5:02 pm #

Definitely keep your eyes on the official US ASUS store site (if you’re in the US) and B&H. I don’t believe the Official US ASUS store has the ability to send customers notification emails when models come back in stock. But when they do, they seem to go quickly. So I would check back with the US ASUS store every day because it seems models come back in stock randomly and sell out just as fast.
As for B&H, they should send out an email when the phones are coming back so at least you’ll get a heads up from them. However, I would guess that the Official ASUS store will have them in stock before B&H.

  24. Samuel August 21, 2019 at 4:49 pm #

If anyone sees the twilight silver 64gb model available in the US, let us know, please <3

    • Luke August 21, 2019 at 5:18 pm #

I have been keeping my eyes open for any pre-orders or in-stock Silver models on various sites. However, nothing as of yet. Will post in here if I see or hear of anything!
As for right now, you can technically get your hands on one via eBay if you so desire!

FORTRESS stores in Hong Kong have them in stock. Just walked in and grabbed one. Unfortunately it’s a 90AI01W1 part number, so I guess it’s Version A with less bands. FORTRESS is also selling two types of cases.

Today night 8/256 Black was in EU ASUS eShops for a while. In the morning it disappeared again 🙁

  35. Sam September 29, 2019 at 11:41 am #

ALZA.HU (Hungarian branch of ALZA webshop) changed stock availability of preordered Zenfone 6, 8/256 (black) to October 9. Previous date was September 30.

Hungarian ASUS eShop canceled my 2 orders of ZF6 8/256 and 12/256 without any reasons. Support doesn’t gave explanations and excuses in 5 days and just recommended to “reorder”.

    • Admin September 29, 2019 at 5:13 pm #

Thanks for the updates! Seems like the ASUS eShops don’t have experience in dealing with high volume products. Not sure they have dealt with a popular product before and the disorganization comes with that unfortunately.

      • Sam September 29, 2019 at 8:01 pm #

I’m not sure about all ASUS eShops. It seems that here in Europe region just one company from Germany manage all ASUS online sales for EU – Arvato Distribution GmbH (ASUS Shop, Arvato Distribution GmbH, Carl-Bertelsmann-Straße 23, D-33442 33332 Gütersloh, Germany). At least they are in the footer on the most of eShop websites.
But for example I’ve got back call from russian eShop support in 20 min when I tried to reach them but unfortunately they are out of stock as well…

So just as we get this update in the BHphoto website on availability, they’re on holiday, and can’t answer any questions or emails. I wanted to ask them if they could switch my order from a midnight black to twilight silver, since when I ordered there was an est. date for the black but not for silver.

Probably just wishful thinking, but I’d really love the silver model over the black one (as most would, I assume).

Whelp, there is an expression, “par for the course”. The way this launch has gone, if something can go wrong, it most certainly will go wrong. I hope many of us can laugh about this in the near future once those “pre-orders” actually ship out. An epic launch disaster courtesy of ASUS!

I’m way behind the game. I just tried to buy this phone (the 64GB version) and it’s sold out. I wouldn’t thought by now they’d have stock issues under control. Seems like it’s more popular than they expected.
