What about the Standard Zenfone 3????

    • Eumelanin Knight October 6, 2016 at 11:44 am #

That’s exactly what I’d like to know..
      Been waiting forever for it.

See my post below. USA gets a “Deluxe” added to the name of the standard 5.5″ Zenfone and a $100 price increase over every other country on Earth. Ridiculous. Way to price gouge Asus.

I’m pretty sure that it’s still the deluxe just not as souped up! Cause that version doesn’t have the sappire whatever color, and it’s all metal with no glass panels! So they are two different models! Zenfone 3 5.5-inch (ZE552KL)
          Zenfone 3 Deluxe 5.5-inch (ZS550KL)

Exactly! I asked Asus and they said that the Standard model (ZE552KL) will be on sale in the USA as well but that they don’t have a date yet

          I don’t know what you’re talking about.
The 4GB RAM, 64GB 5.5in version sells for about $399 in the Philippines and $349 in India, depending on the exchange rate.

It seems, at least for Asia (which has cheaper Laser, Max, etc versions as well), there is no low-cost “standard” version offered with 3GB/32GB.

I see that Newegg, too, has the Deluxe versions for preorder, with a release date of November 1st.

Ok, it looks like ASUS has just committed suicide. The standard 5.5 inch Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) has just been announced in the USA for a STAGGERING $399!!!! You can purchase a fucking OnePlus 3 for that much money! Nearly every website on the planet was pegging this device at between $249 to $349. Way to blow it Asus.

If that is the case, Asus just lost my business. I’d rather put my $399 in an Axon 7 with high end specs..Not mid-range. My interest has only ever been in the ZE552KL and ZE520KL models.

BUT my thinking is that this is just a slow roll-out of devices. Maybe something of a ‘marketing strategy’ to get their flagship bodied (and one budget) phones in hands first? Maybe? Idk.. I’m going to give it another week or two to see either of the base models to show up. After that, it’s probably time to moved on.
