France pre orders begin – Zenfone 3 prices start at EUR 280

Asus just had their France Zenvolution event on Tuesday and now we are seeing some pre order opportunities. The full range off Zenfone 3 models is coming in the near future but at least we are seeing pre order opportunities. Perhaps this gives those of you in the US hope that when the US launch happens, hopefully pre orders will begin immediately following the announcement.

Asus Spain eShop price is EUR 849 for Zenfone 3 Deluxe with Snapdragon 821 processor

During the Asus launch event in Italy for the Zenfone 3, people noticed no mention of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe Special Edition. This is the top phone with 256GB storage and is powered by the much sought after Snapdragon 821 processor. With those high end specs, this version is worthy of the naming of “Special Edition”.

Price: EUR 849

The Asus Spain eStore is not showing availability to pre order right now, but certainly the listing and price exists. The page says the phone will be available in October.

In case you are wondering the slightly less robust ZS570KL with Snapdragon 820 processor, 6GB RAM and 64GB storage is priced at EUR 699.

If these prices remain valid, the Special Edition is around 22% more expensive than the Snapdragon 820 processor. This percentage of price difference may be helpful when looking at your own country which may have the non Snapdragon 821 model. At least this may give you a general idea of how much more you will need to spend, provided your country gets the Snapdragon 821 model.

A closer look at the Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) – Photo Gallery

We pride ourselves on having high quality, high resolution photo galleries. In this case, we will make an exception. These images are not the greatest quality, but they are some of the first official looks at the smaller ZS550KL phone. Aside from the 5.5-inch size, there are some subtle differences in terms of ports and camera positions. Only to the trained eye can you differentiate between the ZS570KL and ZS550KL.

So in this gallery there is the silver version and the gold version. If you notice, there is very little difference between the two colors if you look at the front of the phone. When viewing from the back, the difference is more noticeable.

Pre order in Canada for CAD 699: Zenfone 3 Deluxe with Snapdragon 820

We’ve seen conflicting pricing for the Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL) in Canada. We’ve seen a listing (holder only) on Staples.ca showing this model at a price of CAD 669. Now we have spotted a listing on Amazon.ca with a price of CAD 699. With the Staples.ca listing now taken down, we have to decide which price is accurate. We are going to suggest that Amazon is most likely to get pricing correct. This is what they do isn’t it? Making pricing mistakes would be very unusual for Amazon.

You can in fact place your order now, which is more like a pre order because the release date is questionable at this time.

So this is the Snapdragon 820 version which has 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. If you’re wondering about the model packing the 256GB storage and Snapdragon 821, we have no idea when or if that is coming to Canada. From the benchmarks that we’ve seen, the improvements with the Snapdragon 821 are respectable, but they are not vastly superior to the Snapdragon 820 version of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe. There is no denying how nice 256GB storage would be, but that too comes at an extra cost too.

You may notice Amazon.ca suggesting an estimated shipping date of 1 to 2 months. Trust us when we say that Amazon does this type of default shipping date when they are unsure. So the 1 to 2 months is certainly an overestimate as it were. Amazon.ca doesn’t have a definitive date yet, so they are playing it safe.

Japan officially gets 3 models initially, including two different Zenfone 3 Deluxe phones

That was quick! The Zenvolution Japan event has come and gone but we have the Zenfone 3 details. There are going to be three models initially, with a promise to have the Zenfone 3 Ultra later this year. We do not know about the Max or Laser models at this time.

Prices:

Zenfone 3 Deluxe with Snapdragon 821, 256GB storage and 6GB RAM – JPY 89,800

Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) with Snapdragon 625, 64GB storage and 4GB RAM – JPY 55,800

Zenfone 3 (ZE520KL) with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage – JPY 39,800

So there is no 5.5-inch Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) as part of the launch in Japan. The lesser 5.5-inch Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS550KL) is perhaps a suitable replacement for the ZE552KL and that is what Asus decided to go with.
