Yet another Zenfone 3 Deluxe promo video released

Asus is going heavy on the Zenfone 3 Deluxe and especially touting the invisible antenna design. If you ask most people they likely don’t know what you mean about antennas on the back of smartphones so Asus is doing the smart thing here. It’s a “world’s first” invisible antenna design so they need to tell people about it.

This new video gives a few nice looks of the Zenfone 3 Deluxe. A couple comparison views of the competition and their more intrusive antenna lines should be included in our opinion. It’s hard to know how unique the Asus design really is unless there is a side-by-side comparison.

This design is featured on the Zenfone 3 Deluxe models ZS550KL and ZS570KL. The Zenfone 3 Ultra also shares this invisible antenna design.

It’s a short promotional video but we think you will get the point if you haven’t already!

Canada: Best Buy and Staples now have Zenfone 3 models in store and on display

If you have been wanting to see a Zenfone 3 in person and live in Canada, you now have the opportunity. Both Best Buy and Staples retail locations are now showing in stock and in store inventory of Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) and Zenfone 3 Laser (ZC551KL). Check either retailers website to be sure, but the chances to see a model on display are a lot better now than ever before.

Check our Zenfone 3 Canada Page here

If you check them out for the first time, please add a comment below on your thoughts. You will probably agree that the design and style is top notch and premium looking. You are most likely to find the dark blue color of the ZE552KL and the silver model of the ZC551KL. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe? Not quite yet unfortunately.

Canada has the ZE552KL whereas the US market does not. This is a surprising move considering that a lot of marketing and popularity has been around the Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) and to a lesser extent the smaller yet same (ZE520KL) model. Even though Canada has seen some stock of the dark blue model and the Laser model, the supply has been a bit hit and miss. In addition, the Zenfone 3 Deluxe is still in pre order phase.

In terms of a quality unlocked smartphone that you can use on any of the Canadian mobile networks, the ZE552KL and ZC551KL are good choices. Check Best Buy Canada website to check a location near you to see if they have models in stock. Stores are starting to have display models, others are not. Staples stores will be a safer bet to find a display model although it’s a bit trickier to find which stores have in-store stock. Most locations though are getting their inventory.

Good luck!

Is it too early to talk about a Zenfone 3 Zoom?

Some markets like Germany are still waiting on their official release date, but for the most part things have settled down in terms of the Zenfone 3. At this point it’s a matter of units arriving in different countries and having pre orders fulfilled. In the next week or two the Zenfone 3 series should be widely available and in-stock around the globe.

You could say logically that Asus has rolled out their complete Zenfone 3 line-up at this point. Right? We ask this out loud because with Asus you just never know. The line-up seems complete now but thinking back to last year, Asus did surprise with a late model release, the Zenfone Zoom (ZX551ML). Would they try again with an updated next generation Zoom phone?

zenfone-2-zoom-zx551ml-black-003

If you recall last year with the Zenfone 2 roll-out, Asus left a few tricks up their sleeve after the initial models were made available. The Zenfone 2 was rolled out, but then was followed by the Zenfone 2 Selfie, Zenfone 2 Laser and lastly the Zenfone 2 Zoom. It was a steady parade of new Zenfone 2 models!

We want to focus (no pun intended) on the Zenfone Zoom series. The Zenfone 2 Zoom (ZX551ML) was ground breaking regarding it’s camera. Asus really meant to push the limits on mobile phone photography. The big selling point was the 3x optical-zoom ability. Asus marketed the Zenfone 2 Zoom as being a “DSLR-level camera” with PC grade performance. The specs were top notch and it makes one wonder how a Zenfone 3 Zoom could outdo the already beastly Zenfone 3 Deluxe Special Edition (ZS570KL).

The Zenfone 2 Zoom was a CES 2016 product. Asus took the wraps off it at that show and timing wise it might make sense for them to do the same this time at CES 2017. A unique Zenfone 3 Zoom release early in 2017 would help continue the Zenfone branding at a time when other companies are quiet and not releasing their new phones. A Zenfone 3 Zoom would be a niche product and it likely wouldn’t take away from the main Zenfone 3 models in any significant way. It would however boost Asus and their smartphone portfolio.

It would be interesting to think about how Asus might better the first generation Zenfone Zoom. The display on the original model was 1920 x 1080 pixels as is the current Zenfone 3 Deluxe (ZS570KL). So would an even higher resolution make sense or would the detriment to battery life be a bad side effect? The processor in the original Zenfone Zoom was an Intel Atom Z3590 with a speed of 2.5GHz which is very impressive considering how the top end Snapdragon 821 is already. It’s doubtful that Asus can get a better processor currently than the Snapdragon 821 which is already found in the Zenfone 3 Deluxe Special Edition. RAM wise, the original Zoom had 4GB of RAM and having 6GB in a Zenfone 3 Zoom might makes sense, but it might also tip the price point too high.

What is your feeling about a possible Zenfone 3 Zoom? Do you hope that Asus looks at releasing a new Zoom model?

5 more days until the Zenfone 3 Germany launch

According to the official Asus Germany twitter account, there is 5 more days to wait for the Zenfone 3 arrival. The German market has been a strong supporter of Asus products so there should be a complete availability of all the Zenfone 3 models in the market. We’ve seen a few models showing up in retailers but with a patent issue, there is going to be a slight delay.

So 5 days from today is around November 2. Too long to wait? What model are you most excited about if you’re living in Germany?

Brasil gets their Zenfone 3 launch – Full Details

We can’t speak the language but we know impressive when we see it. The Zenvolution event in Brasil on October 25th was quite the spectacle. This may be one of the last Zenvolution events for Asus this year and they went out with a bang if that’s the case. We recommend you watch the highlight video which we embedded below.

What we liked in particular is how Asus listed price comparisons during the presentation. Asus does come out cheaper in prices and even though the Zenfone 3 is more expensive than the Zenfone 2, they still have a price advantage. If these phones are cheaper then Asus has realized they need to remind people how their prices compare. Great idea!

Take note that the Brasil is one of the only markets showing that they are getting the new Zenfone 3 Max which is 5.5-inches and has a Snapdragon processor unlike the smaller 5.2-inch Zenfone 3 Max phone which uses a MediaTek processor.
